Summer, 2010 -- The Wasco County Sheriff Office has been awarded several grants that will help in the relocating of 911 and the Emergency Operation Center. The grants will also provide a new CAD system (Computer-Aided Dispatch) with a new RMS (Records Management System). All the cars will be getting MDT (Mobile Data Terminals) that will allow deputies to run vehicle checks, driver license checks and wants and warrants without the assistance of the 911 dispatch. This system will link several counties together so they will be able to share information.

The Sheriff Office is working with the Warm Springs Tribe in an effort to draft a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) deputizing their officers to assist deputies off the reservation.

Sgt. Brian Helmer retired March 15th, after 18 years of service with Wasco County. We wish Brian well with his retirement. Reserve Deputy Ray Ward will be working the Marine Program this year. Ray has been assisting Deputy Roger Pearce over the last couple of years before Deputy Pearce retired last July.
