Winter, 2009 -- On October 3, 2009 Polk County Search and Rescue responded to a reported lost hunter in a secluded area known as Grass Mountain. During the search, we received assistance from Benton, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Washington and Yamhill County Sheriff's Offices. Clearly a demonstration of outstanding support offered by the sheriff's of this state. Assistance was also received from the Oregon National Guard and Portland Police Air Division.

Despite all efforts, our victim was located, deceased, in a steep rugged area, taking the Corvallis High Angle Rescue team and others over six hours to recover his body. Thanks also for the support by family and friends of Miller Timber Company and the Salvation Army who provided food.
