Winter, 2009 -- The Harney County Sheriff's Office welcomes two new deputies. Chris Nisbit and Hayes Taylor are new hires for patrol and corrections respectfully. Chelsea Hudson recently returned from the corrections academy.

Thirteen illegal aliens have been sentenced in state and federal courts on two large outdoor marijuana grows found in Harney County over the summer. Sgt Brian Needham, Deputy Lucas McLain, and BLM Ranger George Orr worked several hundred hours investigating these grows. Their hard work has helped in many more arrests by authorities in four states.
